The Village of Cabo Pulmo (population 250) is located along the Tropic of Cancer on Baja California Sur’s East Cape.
Cabo Pulmo & the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is located just 60 miles north of Baja’s tourism epicenter, Los Cabos. This jewel of the East Cape region of Baja California Sur stretches five miles from the northernmost tip, Pulmo Point to the southernmost tip, Los Frailes. Surrounded by undeveloped desert and a stunning mountain range, the pristine beaches of Cabo Pulmo Park give way to a shallow bay that cradles one of three living reefs (the only hard coral reef) in North America.
Two routes from San Jose Del Cabo
The 1st route is most direct and takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is primarily via paved road, from San Jose Del Cabo head north on BCS Highway 1 towards La Ribera then south via dirt road for the last 15 minutes.
The 2nd route is arguably the most scenic in all of Baja as it is along the Sea of Cortez but is all via dirt road. The drive time is approximately 3 hours going this way as the road is rough and average speeds are 10-15 mph. A high clearance vehicle is recommended.
